Signed into Law
On Friday, June 13, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law SB
853, a bill that creates the Dental Hygiene Committee of California. This
committee will assume the authority to regulate the licensure, education and
regulatory enforcement for the profession of dental hygiene in the state of
California.

ADHP Legislation in Minnesota -
Update
On Monday, May 12, 2008, Minnesota’s Governor Tim Pawlenty signed a
bill establishing an Oral Health Practitioner (OHP) into law.
Passage of this landmark legislation is a major step towards easing the
access to care for the many people who are disenfranchised from the current oral
health care system.

ADHA Board of Trustees Adopts Standards
for Clinical Dental Hygiene Practice
The Board of Trustees of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA), at
its winter meeting, adopted the Standards for Clinical Dental Hygiene Practice.
ADHA appointed a task force to develop these standards.

Competencies
The Board of Trustees of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA),
at its winter meeting, adopted the Competencies for the Advanced Dental Hygiene
Practitioner (ADHP). The ADHP model has been created by ADHA as an answer to the
oral health crisis in America.
